Review of Outpatient Team 4
24th April 2024

10 hours waiting to be seen by the doctor and that’s for 76 year old woman who can not sit for so long because she had a spinal surgery a month age . She was crying.

Suggested improvements
More doctors at A and E . Real doctors who can make decisions and speed up the process. That’s a disaster to make people to wait for 10 hours.

I checked in with reception who were courteous and polite. I firstly was told to sit in a certain area which later I found out was the wrong place . I thought I heard a nurse say my name however when I went up to him he said no it wasn’t me . So 2 hours later I checked with reception once more and they told me the Dr has discharged me back to my GP . Apparently they couldn’t find me ! When I was sat there for over 2 hours . They apologised and said I would be called in if there was a cancelled appointment, I am still waiting for that call .

Suggested improvements
Call out my name correctly and seat me in the correct area .

I arrived at 0945 hrs for a 11am appointment. Because I cannot walk for any distance without extreme pain I asked if I could have a wheelchair to take me to Outpatients 4. I waited 45 minutes and decided I would miss my appointment if I did not walk to Outpatients 4. Which I did. The Doctor booked me for an operation but told me that the indications I had received since being registered on 7th November 2023 were incorrect. As someone displaying severe symptoms I would probably have to wait another six months.for the operation. Otherwise I might have to wait two years.. I indicated that I would be available at short notice in the event of a cancellation but nothing is being done to obtain my record from the Cardiology Unit at Basildon Hospital to enable this to take place. Not impressed overall. Brian Hughes, MBE

Suggested improvements
You could ensure that wheelchairs were available for patients with mobility problems. You could be more proactive and ignore emails sent to you ( Julie Smith). My late wife was a Director of a University Foundation Trust Hospital and she would never have been so unresponsive. A Lecture Theatre has been named after her at her NHS Hospital

Visited the poly clinic in Harold wood due to a suspected wrist fracture while away on holiday. I was seen by the triage nurse quite quickly and then a clinician who organised for me to have a xray. Xray was taken and a wrist fracture was confirmed and a temporary cast applied.

Suggested improvements
There was a much longer wait for the xray to be taken and then seeing the clinician for the results. But overall my visit was very positive.

The nurses were not the best, huddled in the little office. No one actually spoke to us or came out to check if the patients were OK. You had to go to them. Didn't feel very caring.

Suggested improvements
Nurses to be more interactive with patients. Receptionist could actually have a smile on their faces rather than looking miserable
